Mumbai, Aug 9 (IANS) Designer duo Gauri & Nainika, who will showcase their collection at the Grand Finale of the upcoming Lakme Fashion Week, are all set to present outfits that plays around the beauty giant’s statement about freedom of expression, #FreeYourLips.

Their fiercely feminine Finale collection will draw inspiration from the “power dressing of the 80s to the golden era, reflecting styles which are fun, free and light”, the fashion designers said in an exclusive statement to IANS on Friday.

“It is the feeling of lightness when you don’t let anything weigh you down.

“Every woman and this season’s theme of #FreeYourLips resonates perfectly with the women we are, free and liberated,” the designer duo, who launched their ready-to-wear fashion label in 2002, added in the statement.

What the audience at the the Lakme Fashion Week can expect are outfits reflecting sharp detailing; dramatic and fluid silhouettes; vintage botanical illustrations and intricate hand embroideries with hints of shimmer in strikingly bold colours.

The much-anticipated fashion event’s Winter-Festive show will kick off on August 21 in Mumbai. It is co-organised by beauty brand Lakme and IMG Reliance.

In the past, the Lakme Absolute Grand Finale has witnessed stunning designs from distinguished designers including Shantanu & Nikhil, Monisha Jaising, Anamika Khanna, Anita Dongre.

TV Actor Sameer Sharma Of ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ Fame Commits Suicide

The actor was living alone in the rented flat since February and the police were trying to get in touch with his family members, reports added.

Mumbai: In yet another unnatural death in the entertainment industry, television actor Sameer Sharma allegedly died by suicide at his home in suburban Malad, NDTV reported the police as saying on Thursday.

Sharma, 44, who had worked in serials like ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’, ‘Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki’ and ‘Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyar Ke’, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the kitchen of his flat at Neha building in Chincholi Bunder locality in Malad (West) on Wednesday night, a police officer said, the report added.

Other media reports quoted Malad police station’s senior inspector George Fernandes as saying that no suicide note was found at the spot and it is suspected he hanged himself two days back. The building’s watchman peeped through the kitchen window, saw him hanging, and alerted the other society members.

The actor was living alone in the rented flat since February and the police were trying to get in touch with his family members, reports added.

An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered and further investigation is underway, said Fernandes in the report.

New Delhi, Aug 6 : Writer, columnist, filmmaker and activist Sadia Dehlvi, a prominent critic of radical interpretations of Islam who urged a holistic understanding of the religion and was also a vocal critic of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act on the ground that it discriminated against Muslims, died here late Wednesday after a prolonged battle with cancer. She had turned 63 on July 16.

Hailing from a family of writers and publishers — her grandfather Hafiz Yusuf founded the iconic Urdu film and literary monthly Shamaa in 1938 — Dehlvi was a columnist with The Hindustan Times and regularly contributed to several prominent Urdu, Hindi and English newspapers and magazines.

A follower of Nizamuddin Auliya and Khwaja Gharib Nawaz, she was the author of two seminal works “Sufism: The Heart of Islam” and “The Sufi Courtyard: Dargahs of Delhi”, besides innumerable articles on women, minorities, Islamic spirituality and Delhi’s heritage and culture.

She also scripted and co-produced the TV series “Amma and Family” that starred veteran actress Zohra Sehgal and also played one of the main roles in it.

Dehlvi was also the associate producer of the TV series “Not a Nice Man to Know” (1998) with late writer Khushwant Singh (who had penned a similarly titled anthology) interviewing women from various fields. She also acted in the TV series “Zindagi Kitni Khoobsoorat Hai” (2001).

Khushwant Singh, in fact, was a great admirer of Dehlvi’s work, and wrote in his anthology that he dedicated to her: “To Sadia Dehlvi, who gave me more affection and notoriety than I deserve.” His book, “Men and Women in my Life” features Dehlvi on the cover and includes an entire chapter on her.
