Kisan-Mazdoor Sangharsh: Protesters demands minimum wage, debt waivers for farmers

New Delhi, Spe 5: Thousands of farmers, agriculture workers and labourers from across the country staged a protest march under name of “Mazdoor Kisan Sangharsh” in the national capital from Ramlila Maidan to Parliament Street.

The rally was organised by outfits affiliated to CPI(M)- Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) and All India Agriculture Workers Union (AIAWU), demanding debt waivers for farmers, minium wage of Rs 18k for all, more employment, food security among others.

In the wake of the rally, Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory for the commuters. Roads such as Delhi Gate, Pahar Ganj Chowk, Minto Road, Bara Khamba Road, K G Marg, Janpath, Copernicus Marg have been advised to avoid.

“We are holding a joint demonstration for the first time to raise voice against the common enemy. This government`s policies are beneficial to corporates and not the people. We want the government to change its policies,” AIKS general secretary Hannan Mollah told media.
