New Delhi, Oct 5: The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a petition filed by an accused in Kathua gang rape and murder case seeking the Central Burau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter.
A bench of Justices U U Lalit and D Y Chandrachud also rejected a separate plea filed by two other accused in the case seeking transfer of the investigation to an independent probe agency.
The Jammu and Kashmir police’s crime branch, which probed the case, filed a charge sheet in June, against seven people and a separate charge sheet against a juvenile in connection with the brutal gangrape case.
They are facing trail Pathankot in Punjab.
An eight-year-old girl from a minority nomadic community was kidnapped in January 10 this year and allegedly raped in captivity in a small village temple in Kathua.
