The Rashtriya Rifles battalion at Samote (Rajouri) along with troops of Territorial Army and Kandi police officials busted a guerrilla hideout in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Saturday.
Also a quantity of arms and ammunition recovered from a natural hideout in Khangar Forest of Rajouri, said Defence official.
“Based on specific information, the Rashtriya Rifles battalion at Samote (Rajouri) along with troops of Territorial Army and state police personnel from police station, Kandi recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from a natural hideout in general area Khangar Forest of Rajouri,” Col. S.D. Goswami, spokesman of army’s Udhampur-headquartered northern command said.
The cache included an AK-56 rifle, two pistols, one under barrel grenade launcher, one 7.62 mm barrel, six magazines of AK-47, three rounds of rocket propelled grenade, two anti-tank rifle grenades, two UBGL grenades, two Chinese hand grenades, 120 rounds of AK-47, eight rounds of Pika rifle, thirty rounds of pistol ammunition, 166 rounds of .303 rifle, a Pouch and a solar plate, he said.
“The timely recovery of the cache has prevented any untoward incident in the area, thereby thwarting the evil designs of the terrorists,” added Col. Goswami.
