Srinagar, June 22: Four terrorists were gunned down in an encounter with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday after the intelligence input that three to four terrorists are holed up in Srigufwara village.
J&K DGP SP Vaid said in a tweet ” A total of 4 terrorists gunned down by security forces in Anantnag’s Srigufwara area”.
“One policeman is reportedly martyred and two civilians are injured”, he added.
The gunbattle started between security forces and terrorists in Anantnag’s Srigufwara village, in the early morning hours and three terrorists are believed to be trapped. The gunbattle is underway.
Jammu and Kashmir DGP S.P. Vaid said, ” Encounter started in early hours of the morning, there was information of 3-4 terrorists’ presence. 3 bodies (of terrorists) are being retrieved. One Policeman has been martyred and two civilian injured.”gunned down

Police said security forces laid a cordon around Srigufwara village following specific information about the presence of militants there.
“As the security forces tightened the cordon around hiding militants, they fired, triggering an encounter which is underway,” a police officer said.
Meanwhile, students and protesters clashed today with police and CRPF as schools reopened today. It is believed one trapped militant in Anathnag encounter is from Pulwama.
