Dehradun, June 10, 2017: Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on Saturday said that Jammu and Kashmir youth are being misinformed and misguided by forces inimical to peace and also stressed on the need for better technology to fight terrorism.

Addressing gentlemen cadets at the prestigious Indian Military Academy in Dehradun, Rawat said “A disinformation campaign is being run in Kashmir where the youth is being brainwashed. They then resort to stone-pelting.”

“We need to think ahead of the insurgents…. Technology is important to fight terrorism. If we have modern technology and it is used properly, citizens will not be inconvenienced and we will also be successful,” he said.

Talking about India-China relations, Rawat said that “Sometimes China uses helicopters, so can we but there is a perception that transgression is happening.”

He also talked about the importance of adding women officers in the military by saying they can help counter many tricky situations.
