New Delhi, Nov 22: In one of the worst train accidents, the number of people who succumbed to death reached to 149, Home Ministry officials said on Tuesday.
The Indore-Patna Express went off the track near Kanpur on Sunday claiming many lives including children and woman who were travelling in the train.
Among 149 deaths, 125 dead bodies have been identified so far and out of 182 injured persons, 64 are stated to be in critical condition” Additional Director General Media, Ministry of Home Affairs, K. S. Dhatwalia said.
Meanwhile, taking a serious note on the tragedy Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Monday ordered a “forensic probe” into the accident.
Rescue teams launched ed off their search operation after pulling out 25 more bodies from the mangled coaches of the Indore-Patna Express that had derailed near Pukhrayan station, about 60 km from Kanpur city.
