New Delhi, July 7: Padma Shri Sufi singer, Kailash Kher is celebrating his 45th birthday today. For those who are ardent fans of Indian music, may not need any introduction of this man.

Born in a Kashmiri Pandit family in Meerut, UP, Kher’s first brush with music happened at a young age. His father was a musician, inclined towards folk music and that’s where his own fascination for the art started.

When he was all of 14, he left home in search of a guru, who could teach him everything about classical as well as folk music. He believed isolation was required to hone his craft. Kailash Kher extensively listened to musicians like Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and later the likes of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Lata Mangeshkar, and other contemporaries to learn the art of music.

He came up with his own album initially and then slowly entered the Bollywood world. Here he gave some incredible musical gems which are still making place into playlists of many fans.

Kher forayed into the music industry by singing jingles for ad films. He got his Bollywood break in the 2003 film Andaaz with the song “Rabba Ishq Naa Hove”, but he shot to fame with the super hit number “Allah Ke Bande”.
