A 25-year-old journalist along with another woman, was molested by a man at a Metro station in New Delhi on Monday evening, following which the accused was arrested on Thursday, police said.
According to news agency ANI, the accused has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
Meanwhile taking into the consideration the matter Delhi High court said, “Men who have no respect for women will be dealt with sternly.”
The incident occurred at ITO Metro Station premises in central Delhi on Monday when the accused, identified as Akhilesh Kumar, in an inebriated state, allegedly molested the two women and passed lewd comments, police said.
In a CCTV footage at the time of the incident, the woman can be seen bravely fighting off the predator, who then cowardly flees the spot.
