The letter was apparently shot off from Aligarh by a woman, who claimed to have spotted JNU student Najeeb Ahmed, who is missing for over a month.

As per the letter, the woman saw Ahmed at a market in Aligarh. He also sought her help and told her that he had been locked up somewhere and had managed to escape the clutches somehow. But, he left by she could inform anyone. He was either taken by some with force, or he left on his own. The woman also mentioned an address where she could be contacted.

However, Crime Branch officers could not find anyone at the address. The letter neither mentioned the place where Ahmed has been locked up or about any ransom.

The courier agency that delivered the letter will be asked by the police to give the location from where it was dispatched and the person who had sent it. The letter might also be sent for forensic analysis of the handwriting.
