J&K’s Anantnag gunfight ends, 3 terrorists killed

Srinagar, Jan 16, 2017: The gun battle between terrorists and the security forces which had started on Sunday in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district ended on Monday morning as all the three hiding terrorists were killed, police said.

The bodies were recovered from Awoora village and they have been identified as Adil Ahmad Reshi of Bijbehara, Abid Ahmad Sheikh of Satkipora and Masood Ahmad Shah of Bewoora.

Meanwhile, police sources said that the three were affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen.

“An operation against the militants resumed on Monday morning after it was suspended on Sunday evening,” a senior police officer said.

The gunfight erupted on Sunday following information about the presence of the militants hiding in a house in the village.
