J&K: Bodies of 3 soldiers missing in avalanche recovered

Srinagar, Dec 19: Three bodies of three missing soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora and Kupwara districts has been recovered by army on Tuesday. 

Two bodies were recovered from the Gurez sector of the Line of Control (LoC) in Bandipora, while one was recovered from Nowgam sector of Kupwara, Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia stated, news agency IANS quoted.

“Searches are on for the bodies of two more soldiers, who are still missing,” Kalia said.

Five soldiers went missing after a snow avalanche hit Mani Post Bagtor Gurez sector of LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district on December 12.

The Army had deployed specially trained teams of its high altitude warfare school (HAWS) to search the bodies of the missing soldiers.
