Srinagar, Aug 4: At least five militants were gunned down by the security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence official said on Saturday.
“Five terrorists have been killed so far in the operation that began on Friday evening in Kiloora village,” Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia told the media here.
Jammu and Kashmir DGP S.P. Vaid took Twitter to confirm about the killings, he tweeted “Four more bodies of terrorists visible at encounter site (in) Kiloora, Shopian, taking the total to five terrorists killed. Good Job boys, good for peace.”
The identities of the slain terrorists yet to be identified. However, bodies of all five terrorists killed in an encounter have been recovered. Operation concluded.
This was the third consecutive encounter since August 2.
In another encounter that took place on Friday, two militants were killed in a gunfight in north Kashmir’s Sopore.
An Army personnel was also martyred in an encounter, while three others were injured.
While two terrorists were killed by the security forces near a check-post in Kupwara on Thursday.
