Ranchi, July: Nearly after a week, Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district police arrested another accused in connection with the lynching of meat trader on 29 June.
As per the Indian Express report, accused has been identified as Raj Kumar is the new member of the local Gau Raksha Samiti, tailed the victim for 15 km on the day of the lynching, and kept informing the main prime culprit Chhotu Verma and BJP’s district media in-charge, Deepak Mishra.
He was sent to judicial custody on July 6.
“The main accused gave him the number of Ansari’s van and asked him to follow the vehicle. Call records reveal that Mishra and Verma were in touch with Kumar all along,” said Ramgarh SP Kishore Kaushal told IE.
“According to call records, Kumar was in touch with Mishra and Verma from around 7.30 am on June 29. For almost two hours, he followed them, informing the other two about his location. The others then gathered at a spot near Bazar Tand, where they intercepted Ansari at around 9.30 am and started beating him,” said DySP V K Chowdhary, Indian Express quoted.
Ansari’s van was then stopped at around 9:30 am near Bazar Tand where he was allegedly attacked and his vehicle was torched.
Till now eleven people have been arrested in the incident.
