Dumka, June 2 : Four Naxals have been gunned down in an encounter while one jawan was martyred and four others injured in Dumka in Jharkhand on Sunday.
YS Ramesh, Superintendent of Police, said that as per information, “four to five Naxals have been shot.”
“In an encounter with Naxals in Dumka, 1 jawan has lost his life and 4 others are injured. According to our information, 4-5 Naxals have been shot,” Ramesh was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
All injured had been shifted to a nearby hospital.
During that encounter as well, the security forces had recovered three AK-47 Rifle, three bullet magazines and four pipe bombs from the encounter site.
On Saturday, security forces nabbed two Naxals from Basugaon area of the Chirang district in Assam. A joint team of army and Chiran police carried out at a raid in Basugaon village on the basis of a tip, following which the arrests were made.
Forces also seized a large amount of cash, arms and ammunition along with passport and other documents from the arrested Maoists.
