Srinagar: At least two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans were killed in a major terror attack on Monday in Jammu and Kashmir. ANI reported that while two jawans were killed, three more CRPF personnel were also injured in the attack that took place at Pampore bypass.
It was reported that the unidentified terrorists fired upon a road opening party (ROP) of the CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel near Pampore bypass on the outskirts of Srinagar city at 12:50 pm.
The injured were evacuated to the district hospital.
“Troops of 110 battalion of CRPF along with JKP carrying out ROP during which unknown terrorists (12:50 hours) fired upon the troops. In this incident total 05 CRPF personnel sustained injuries and evacuated to District Hospital,” the CRPF said in an initial statement.
The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was reportedly closed following the attack and the incident site was cordoned off.
