Heavy snowfall shuts Jammu-Srinagar National Highway


Srinagar, Dec 13: Due to heavy snowfall at the Jawahar Tunnel, the authorities have decided to close Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on Thursday. 

In the last 24 hours, the state witnessed rain and snowfall.

At minus 9.5 degrees Celsius, Gulmarg was the coldest in the Kashmir Valley, while Srinagar recorded 0.1 and Pahalgam minus 1.5 as the minimum temperatures.

Jammu city recorded 7.9 degrees Celsius, Katra town 6.5, Batote minus 1.5, Bannihal 0.5 and Bhaderwah 0.1 as the minimum temperatures on Thursday.

According to the Met Department, the weather is expected to improve from today (Thursday) afternoon.
