Jammu and Kashmir municipal elections to be held in four phases, starts from October 8

Srinagar, Sep 15: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Electoral Officer Shaleen Kabra on Saturday announced the schedule for municipal elections. 

Addressing a press conference, he said “Municipal elections will be held in four phases. Date of polling would be October 08, 10, 13 and 16.

“The Poll hours will be from 7 am to 2 pm”, he stated adding, the Counting of votes will take place on October  20.

While the panchayat polls would be conducted in eight phases from November 8 to December 4.

Two main political parties, the National Conference and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have decided to boycott these upcoming elections in the state.

Though the Congress is yet to take a final call on participation in the polls, as it has said the situation is not conducive for holding municipal and Panchayat elections.
