Srinagar, Oct 6: Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik on Saturday held a review meeting at the Raj Bhavan ahead of the forthcoming polls to the Urban Local Bodies and Panchayats in the state.
During the meeting, Malik reviewed and discussed security arrangements for the smooth conduct of the elections.
He also discussed the need of safe environment for the elections.
On the other hand, IG CRPF (Jammu and Kashmir) Ravideep Singh Sahi briefed media about the security situation of the valley.
“We have made elaborate arrangement for security during urban body elections. Whatever force was required for urban body election have come, they are being deployed. They have been adequately familiarised with the area”, he said.
The official further stated “Environment in Kashmir valley is under control and our endeavour would be to create a sense of security so that people should come out&vote. I’m very hopeful that the people will come out&vote. It has the potential of assuring an era of development”.
The Jammu and Kashmir elections to municipal corporations, councils and committees will be held in four phases starting from October 8, October 10, October 13 and October 16.
While, panchayat polls will be held in 9 phases between November 17 and December 11.
