Amaravati, Feb 6: Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy wrote a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grant special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

This move after Union Minister of State for Finance reiterated on Monday the Centre’s stand to not grant special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

YS Jagan said that the the central govt announced special status to AP at the time of bifurcation in 2014. But the central govt did not grant special status to AP citing 14th finance commission recommendations. This lead to gross injustice to Andhra. But 15th Finance Commission report for 2020-21 clearly told that grant of SCS lies in the hands of central govt only; wrote AP CM in the letter.

YS Jagan appealed to the Modi to intervene in the matter and help the people of AP who are trapped in an unfortunate scenario.
