Islampur Police Firing: BJP delegation to submit memorandum to President

New Delhi, Oct 1: A Bharatiya Janata Party delegation along with kin of the Islampur Police Firing victims to submit a memorandum to the President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday. 

Two youths, Rajesh Sarkar and Tapas Barman died during a protest over the recruitment of three new teachers in the Daribhit High School on September 20.

Sarkar, was shot dead in a clash. While Barman, who sustained a bullet injury in the incident, died in the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital on Friday.

Later the protest turned violent triggering a clash which prompted the police to open fire at the agitators West Bengal’s North Dinajpur district.

The BJP had also called for a 12-hour shutdown in West Bengal on September 26 against the police action.
