IPL: Hyderabad elect to field against Kolkata

Kolkata, April 15: Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner elected to field after winning the toss against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) game at the Eden Gardens here on Saturday.

After registering a resounding eight-wicket win against Kings XI Punjab in their previous game here on Thursday, Kolkata made just one change, replacing leg-spinner Piyush Chawla with left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav.

SRH, who lost to Mumbai Indians in their last match, made two changes bringing in Moises Henriques in place of Mustafizur Rahman and Vipul Sharma in place of Vijay Shankar.

KKR: Gautam Gambhir (captain), Robin Uthappa (wicket-keeper), Manish Pandey, Yusuf Pathan, Colin Grandhomme, Suryakumar Yadav, Chris Woakes, Kuldeep Yadav, Sunil Narine, Umesh Yadav, Trent Boult.

SRH: Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner (captain), Deepak Hooda, Yuvraj Singh, Ben Cutting, Naman ojha (wicket-keeper), Moises Henriques, Vipul Sharma, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ashish Nehra.

Eden Gardens voted best ground of IPL 2018

Kolkata, May 26 (IANS) The Eden Gardens has been voted the best ground in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018.

Home to Kolkata Knight Riders, the picturesque Eden hosted nine matches this season including the Eliminator and the second qualifier and seven home games of KKR.

In a tweet, former India captain Sourav Ganguly revealed this ahead of the official BCCI announcement on Sunday and also thanked the ground staff for their contribution.

“The CAB is happy to inform that Eden Gardens has once again been awarded the best venue and ground of IPL 2018,” the Cricket Association of Bengal president wrote on his official Twitter handle.

“The CAB takes this opportunity to thank all who have contributed to this success beginning with the ground staff, BCCI and ICC,” Ganguly added.

CAB joint secretary Avishek Dalmiya also profusely thanked in a post on his official Facebook page.

“Eden Gardens is what it is because of the cricket Loving people of the state, so many thanks to them for being such a great crowd,” Dalmiya wrote.

New Delhi, May 26: For the high-octane Indian Premier League (IPL) final between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Bollywood celebs are gearing up to entertain the audience on a live stage. Everyone’s eyes are now on the much-awaited closing ceremony of this grand event. IPL 2018 closing ceremony is going to be full of entertainment, studded with stars of Bollywood.

The closing ceremony which will take place at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday (May 27) is all set to witness the rocking performances of Katrina Kaif, Jacqueline Fernandez, Kriti Sanon, Kartik Aaryan, Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, most likely Salman Khan and Ranbir Kapoor’s hosting the segment ‘Cricket Finale- Party to banti hai’.

Jacqueline Fernandez is on a roll. Besides gearing up for the release of her upcoming thriller Race 3, the actress has been roped in to perform for the closing ceremony IPL. Interestingly, she had also been a part of the opening ceremony of the cricketainment where she danced to her hit numbers, Tan Tana Tan and Unchi Hai Building from her blockbuster film Judwaa 2. Besides performing on ground, the Judwaa 2 actress will also be part of the two-hour TV show Cricket Final Party Toh Banti Hai.

Recently, it was reported that Salman Khan could be performing at the event with Jacqueline on ‘Heeriye’ song of Race 3.

Actor Kartik Aaryan who has become a heartthrob with his movie ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ will set the stage on fire with his dance moves. He will perform on songs ‘Bom Diggy Diggy’ and ‘Dil chori’ of his movie. Kartik Aaryan’s career has boosted after the success of his movie ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’, which has helped him bagging such projects. Karan Johar has also signed him for a movie.

The gorgeous diva Katrina Kaif too will add some glamour to the event by her dance moves. She will be dancing on songs of her movie ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’. Sonam Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan will also perform for their movie ‘Veere Di Wedding’; reported Laughing Colours.

Kriti Sanon is also gearing up to entertain the audience on a live stage. This will be Kriti’s second IPL performance, after her last season’s opening ceremony performance. The actress recently completed 4 years in Bollywood and it is since her first movie that she’s had foot tapping dance numbers. Kriti will be seen tracing her four-year innings in Bollywood at IPL’s closing ceremony.

The power pack of energy Ranveer Singh is not part of this event. He has been replaced by Ranbir Kapoor for hosting the segment ‘Cricket Finale- Party to banti hai’. The closing ceremony will take place at Wankhede Stadium on May 27. Ranbir Kapoor will be interacting with celebs as a host before the final IPL match.

Chennai Super Kings are favourites to win IPL crown: Survey

New Delhi, May 26: On the eve of the high-octane Indian Premier League (IPL) final between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the M.S Dhoni-led yellow brigade have been voted as the strong favourites by a sports fans survey to win their third title at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.

According to the survey conducted by Indian Sports Fan, an online largest sports fan community, CSK are the favourites to win the title while skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the most favourite player with the Wankhede as the most preferred stadium.

The fans survey highlighted Dhoni as the most revered player out of the top 12 players with 27.3 per cent votes followed by Virat Kohli with 22 per cent and SRH captain Kane Williamson with 20.11 per cent fan votes.

The survey further revealed that Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium as the most preferred stadium with 30 per cent votes followed by Kolkata’s Eden Gardens Stadium with 20.22 per cent votes, as compared to eight other stadiums.

The survey targeted 14,000 fans across 10 cities with 4,802 successful respondents.
