Bengaluru, April 5: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by five wickets in Indian Premier League (IPL) match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday.
Splendid performance of Andre Russell helped KKR to chase a target of 205 runs in 19.1 overs.
Russell began with KKR needing 67 off 26 balls. Captain Dinesh Karthik (19) got out in the next over and in the last three overs, the away side needed 53 runs in 18 balls.
It is from there that Russell took over, smacking seven sixes and a four to attain victory with five balls to spare.
KKR posted 206/5, their highest run-chase in league history. While, RCB, remained winless after five clashes.
Earlier, during batting, Kohli struck a 49-ball 84 (4×9, 6×2) while De Villiers hit a 32-ball 63 (4×5, 6×4) as duo stitched together a 108-run stand for the second wicket to treat the packed crowd at the Stadium to a spectacle as RCB posted 205/3 in 20 overs.
In this match, Kohli made his 35th IPL fifty as the India skipper went past Suresh Raina to become the T20 meet’s highest ever run-getter.
