New Delhi, March 6: Karti Chidambaram on Tuesday sent to 3 more days of CBI custody by Special CBI court. Arguments on Karti Chidambaram’s bail plea to be held on 9th March.

CBI says “to unearth the larger conspiracy, we need to have further custody of the accused.” CBI opposes the bail application of Karti Chidambaram.
The CBI Court will hear the CBI’s demand seeking further custody of Karti at 2 pm.
Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Karti’s counsel, argues that CBI’s application for further remand doesn’t include any further reasoning.
CBI said that considering the enormity of the offence involved and the possibility of the investigation being required to be expended.
CBI said that during the custodial interrogation so far, CBI was able to gather some important information even though the accused has remained evasive even while answering the routine questions

CBI has moved an application seeking the extension of remand for Karti Chidambaram

The Patiala House Court, on 1 March, sent Karti Chidambaram to CBI custody till 6 March in the INX Media case.
The CBI is investigating the allegation of his taking money for FIPB clearance to INX Media when his father was Finances Minister
He has dubbed the allegation against him in the INX Media case as “politically motivated.”
Karti was held by the CBI at Chennai airport soon after his arrival from an overseas visit on February 28.
Supreme Court Hearing
Earlier today Supreme Court issued a notice to the Enforcement Directorate on the PMLA case registered against Karti Chidambaram & posted the matter for further hearing on March 9.
Kapil Sibal who appeared for Karti Chidambaram demanded interim relief in the case.
A bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra said on Monday(5th March) that it would hear the plea after it was mentioned for an early hearing by lawyer Shally Bhasin.
