August 24 : In Berlin, Congress President Rahul Gandhi has lambasted the Narendra Modi government  and said instead of competing with China, Rashtriya Swayamseva Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were working “to divide and spread hatred” in India.

Gandhi made the statement while addressing the Indian Overseas Congress on Thursday in Berlin. In an eight-minute video shared by the Indian National Congress on their Twitter. His address was not aired live due to a technical glitch.

Interacting with the Indian-origin parliamentarians, Gandhi has attacked the divisive politics of the Rashtriya Swayamseva Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)  and said that “the government which is now ruling in India, the BJP and RSS, want to divide and spread hatred in the country. The Congress party will not let this happen”.

Gandhi said the strength of India lies in listening to the views of every citizen, despite religion, section of the society and caste.

On his second day in Europe, Rahul was addressing a group of Indians living in Berlin. Rahul said that presently Congress’ job is ‘to unite people and focus on development’.

Referring to China, which is India’s actual competition, Rahul said that the Chinese government is able to employ 50,000 youths every 24 hours, where as Indian government can only manage to employ only 450 youth. He added, “There are long speeches but farmers end up committing suicides. Youths see no direction.”
