New Delhi, April 26: An Indian Navy officer lost his life on Friday during fire fighting operations on INS Vikramaditya when the ship was entering the Karwar harbour in Karnataka.
Lt Cdr D.S. Chauhan, who was leading the firefighting efforts, suffered loss of consciousness owing to smoke and fumes, said Indian Navy in a statement.
A Board of Inquiry has been ordered to probe the incident.
“Fire was controlled by its crew preventing any serious damage to the warship’s combat capability”, it added.
