Indian, Pakistani troops trade fire on LoC

Jammu, Aug 13: Indian and Pakistani troops traded heavy fire on Sunday along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, according to defence sources.

“Pakistan Army began indiscriminate firing and shelling on our positions at 8.30 a.m. on the LoC in Mendhar sector’s Mankote.

“The firing is ongoing and our forces are effectively retaliating,” the sources added.

On Saturday, a civilian and a junior level Army officer were killed in Pakistan shelling in Poonch’s Krishna Ghati sector.

Parliament Monsoon session Day 4 Live : Opposition to raise Alwar lynching

New Delhi, July 23 : The opposition parties are set to corner the Modi led government over the Alwar lynching incident as the Parliament reassembles on Monday for the first time after the no-confidence motion against the Centre was defeated in the Lok Sabha but exposed the failures of the central government.

Meanwhile, BJP MP Vinay Sahasrabuddhe has given a notice for suspension of business in Rajya Sabha to take up the issue of flood and other natural calamities due to heavy rain in several parts of the country.

Congress MPs from Punjab are protesting  over rising unemployment in front of Parliament while TDP MPs are staging  protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue in Parliament over special category status to Andhra Pradesh and implementation of AP re-organizing Act on the day 4 of the Monsoon session of the Parliament.

Congress is set to raise issues including  Rafale deal  and increase in Lynching incidents in the Parliament.

Union Minister Anant Kumar said, ” Our defence minster has clearly said about the Rafale agreement b/w India&France in the Parliament,now Rahul Gandhi wants to rake up a non issue with baseless charges, let them come with there allegations, govt had made this deal in best interest of the country.”

Tamil Nadu: Police constable commits suicide in Kovaipudur

Chennai, July 23: Personnel of Police Force 4th Battalion allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree inside the Battalion campus, in Kovaipudur, last night.

The body has been sent for postmortem.
