New Delhi, Aug 6: India takes unassailable lead of 2-0 in the 3-match series, defeat Sri Lanka by an inning and 53 runs in Colombo Test.
India rode on a superb bowling performance to defeat Sri Lanka by an innings and 53 runs in the second Test at the Sinhallese Sports Club here on Sunday.
Ravindra Jadeja declared Player of the match.
Sri Lanka were following on and resumed the day on 209 for 2 and 230 runs behind India. Dimuth Karunaratne scored a splendid hundred but with the SSC pitch crumbling, Indian spinners were always threatening. Jadeja picked up five wickets in the innings, including that of Karunaratne, as India bowled out Sri Lanka for 386 runs.
Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja did most of the damage with figures of 5/152. Star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had figures of 2/132 while medium-pacer Hardik Pandya returned 2/31. Fast bowler Umesh Yadav took one wicket.
This was one another top performance from Kohli and his men. Sri Lanka did make a comeback in the second innings but India had batted them out with 622 runs in the first. Series sealed!
