Srinagar, Dec 19: President’s rule has been imposed in Jammu And Kashmir on Wednesday after the expiry of six-months of Governor’s rule in the state.
Governor Satya Pal Malik had recommended President’s Rule on Monday.
The decision was approved by the Cabinet and signed by President Ram Nath Kovind.
The 87-member Jammu and Kashmir assembly was dissolved by the Governor on November 21 after the regional parties including Mehbooba Mufti’s PDP and Sajad Lone’s People’s Conference, staked claim to form the government in the state.
The State was placed under the Governor’s Rule on June 20 after the Bharatiya Janata Party broke alliance with the PDP in a coalition government.
