India register ninth straight series win after drawing Kotla Test

New Delhi, Dec 6: India registered a record ninth straight series win after drawing the third and final Test against Sri Lanka at the Ferozeshah Kotla here on Wednesday.

Chasing an improbable 410, a defiant Sri Lanka rode on Dhananjaya de Silva’s third Test century and debutant Roshen Silva’s unbeaten half century to score 299/5, before both the captains decided to settle for the draw.

Roshen remained unbeaten on 74 while stumper Niroshan Dickwella was on 44 when the match ended.

With this, India clinched the three-Test rubber against the islanders 1-0 and also equalled Australia’s record of nine consecutive series wins from 2005 to 2008.

Asian Games 2018: Sanjeev Rajput wins Silver medal in 50m air rifle

Jakarta, Aug 21: Indian shooter Sanjeev Rajput won the Silver medal in Men’s 50m air rifle( 3 positions) event at Asian Games 2018.

Earlier,shooters Saurabh Chaudhary and Abhishek Verma clinched the gold and bronze medal, respectively in the Men’s 10 metre Air Pistol final.

With a score of 240.7 Saurabh bagged the yellow metal.

While Abhishek stood third scoring 219.3 to take India’s medal tally to seven.

Asian Games 2018: Saurabh Chaudhary wins gold, Abhishek Verma bronze in 10m air pistol

Jakarta, Aug 21: Indian shooters Saurabh Chaudhary and Abhishek Verma clinched the gold and bronze medal, respectively in the Men’s 10 metre Air Pistol final on the third day of Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta. 

With a score of 240.7 Saurabh bagged the yellow metal.

While Abhishek stood third scoring 219.3 to take India’s medal tally to seven.

Tomoyuki Matsuda of Japan won the silver with 239.7 points. He and Saurabh pulled away for the contest with points of 220.1 and 220.5 respectively.  After eight series Abhishek was eliminated with 219.3 points.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced Rs 50 lakh award for Saurabh Chaudhary.

Nottingham, Aug 21: India declared their second innings at 352/7, setting a target of 521 runs for England to win the third Test with two days remaining at Trent Bridge here on Monday.

Skipper Virat Kohli struck his 23rd Test ton, his fourth slowest century coming off 197 balls, to guide India to the massive score.

Kohli received great support from No.3 Cheteshwar Pujara (72), who forged a 113-run third wicket partnership before all-rounder Hardik Pandya struck a run-a-ball 52 to take the lead past the 500-run mark.

Brief Scores: India: 329 all out and 352/7 (Virat Kohli 103, Cheteshwar Pujara 72, Hardik Pandya 52; Adil Rashid 3/101) against England: first innings: 161 all out.
