Home Ministry in its response to a question asked in loksabha said that that Stone pelting incidents in J&K decreased and the situation is improving .
The home ministry in its report said the stone pelting incidents in J&K are down to 664 in 2017 (till 9 July) from 2808 in 2016.
It also stated that incidents of violence by terrorists in J&K stands at 172 in 2017 (till 9 July) as compared to 322 in 2016. While giving information about the lives lost in jammu kashmir crisis the report suggests that 12 civilians,38 security personnel lost their lives in terrorist attacks in ’17 (till 9 Jul). 95 terrorists gunned down in Jammu and kashmir.
The violence in Kashmir valley erupted last year after the death of top Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani. After his death, protests were held in different districts of Kashmir.
The valley was simmering with anti-India protests and a large number of stone pelting incidents were reported. The state was under a complete lockdown for 53 days.
