Chandigarh, July 11: Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Wednesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to waive off farmers loans and make efforts to implement the Swaminathan Commission Report.
Ahead of Modi’s address at Kisan Kalyan rally in Punjab’s Muktsar district, Singh tweeted, “Narendra Modi ji, good to know that you will be addressing Punjab farmers today. Please use the opportunity to announce loan waiver and full implementation of the Swaminathan report”.

In the wake of recent hike in Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Kharif crops, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in association with the BJP organised a rally in Malout.
SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal along with other local leaders are expected to attend the event.
Last week, the central government approved a proposal to raise MSP by 50 per cent for 14 types of Kharif crops for the year 2018-19.
