I don’t make false promises, I remember what I say: Modi in Dehradun

New Delhi, Dec 27, 2016: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Char Dham highway project in Uttarakhand’s capital Dehradun on Tuesday.

Ahead of Uttrakhand polls, addressing a public rally on the occasion, PM Modi said his government has only one agenda and that is development.

Defending sudden demonetization announcement on November 8, PM Modi asserted that, “In one stroke fake notes, terrorism, human trafficking, drug mafia were dealt with after noteban.”

“I know you have faced a lot of inconveniences but despite that the nation came forward to fight against corruption,” PM Modi said.

Labeling government’s move as “cleanliness campaign”, Modi said that everyone has helped him. Headstarting BJP’s electoral campaign in Uttrakhand, Modi said “I don’t make false promises, I remember what I say.”

Modi attacked opposition as they protested against the implementation of demonetization policy. Without naming any opposition, he said that handful of people don’t want him to act against corruption.

While lauching the Char Dham highway which is 900 kilometer-long, Modi paid his tribute to the victims of floods in Uttarakhand in 2013. The highway will join the pilgrimage in Uttarakhand. He said that Uttarakhand’s biggest source of income is tourism.

“When someone leaves for Badrinath or Kedarnath Yatra, they keep 2-3 days as a buffer because of uncertainties on the trip. A pilgrims mind should be free of any worries but here people are continuously thinking about what will happen next. Now, because of this highway, the ‘yatra’ will become easy,” PM Modi said.
