Actress Deepika Padukone, who depicts the role of Mastani in the forthcoming historical romance film "Bajirao Mastani", says she doesn't endorse the character personally as she is very conservative in real life.

Actress Deepika Padukone, who depicts the role of Mastani in the forthcoming historical romance film “Bajirao Mastani”, says she doesn’t endorse the character personally as she is very conservative in real life.

Mastani, a Muslim lady, was a court dancer with whom Bajirao fell in love and married later.

When asked if Deepika could relate to her character in the film, she said: “Of course, having said that whatever happened in between the three of them, I don’t endorse it personally.”

“It’s a real life character so I have to portray it that way, but personally I am very conservative in real life. I don’t endorse it personally,” she added.

However, Deepika feels the qualities of Mastani are something that every woman has.

“I feel there is a Mastani in every woman because we don’t go to the battlefield everyday, but we are faced with certain situations where we have to be strong, confident. It’s an inspirational character,” she added.

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, “Bajirao Mastani” also features Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles.

Karan Johar

Mumbai, May 25 (IANS) Karan Johar ditched his grey mane on his birthday, and opted for a more youthful look. The filmmaker said he decided to colour his hair when his children asked him why he was looking old.

Karan turned 48 on May 25. He revealed his new look on Instagram with a video.

“Grey hair can elicit multiple reactions. I can personally relate to it as I got all kinds of comments from uber cool to hello uncle,” Karan said.

“When my kids asked why I was looking old, I decided to try and colour my hair at home,” he added.

Ever since the lockdown started, K.Jo was seen flaunting grey hair on social media. Last month, he opened about his new look.

In a video conversation with actor Varun Dhawan, Karan was seen sporting grey hair. He said: “I am debuting with this look of mine with silver hair on your Insta chat and on your birthday.”Varun complimented Karan for his hair and said: “You look like a Bond villain.”

Varun asked the director why didn’t he colour his hair, he replied: “Anyway my kids (Yash and Roohi) are calling me buddha, so I thought let me just flaunt my greys a bit.”

On another instance, he shared a selfie in that look, and wrote: “I know my acting stint was scarier than the current virus but there is no harm in hoping for a second chance! So to all enterprising casting directors, to all risk taking filmmakers , to critics with a high threshold of pain and to easy to please audiences I have an announcement to make!!!! I AM AVAILABLE FOR FATHER ROLES! ( at 48 with a poor track record I promise i can’t afford to be choosy).”

Now, he has got a new look, and he posted a caption along with the video.

He wrote: “Hi guys!!! So it’s been 20 days and I still haven’t got any offer for the FATHER ROLES! Clearly, my grey hair look wasn’t as cool as I thought. Even my kids have started calling me buddhha. So, what better day than my birthday to be my sexy self again and to surprise all of you with my (not so) new look!”

Mumbai, May 25 (IANS) Actor Arjun Bijlani says he needs to be extra careful, after a person has tested positive for coronavirus in his building here.

The actor, who has been in quarantine with wife and son in the Green Acres building, said: “Somebody’s help on the first floor has been infected. It’s a family of doctors. I am on the sixth floor and I am completely quarantined anyways. I think they will seal the building or a few floors. It was earlier reported in the next building, but now since it’s in our building too. We need to be extra careful.”

Incidentally, Arjun lives in the same building compound where producer Boney Kapoor’s house help recently tested positive for coronavirus.

Quarantining with pets can be a little difficult for Arjun. “I have a dog at home and he obviously needs to go for a walk, so it’s going to be a big task now,” he said.

The actor has already stocked up on essentials but he admits that the next 14 days are going to be crucial. He accepts that the Covid situation has been mentally scary for everyone since the beginning, but now that it’s in his building he is more worried.

“I am more worried now because I have a five-year-old son at home. But I am going to stay positive and pray that it doesn’t affect my family,” Arjun added.

Although the actor has a help at home, he said that he and his wife have divided the household chores.

He said: “Cooking, cleaning, there are so many things to be done in the house. We have a help at home. But me and my wife have divided work on our own. But we have a dog, who needs to go for a walk, and my help is the one who takes him and he sometimes plays with my son too, so now I need to be extra careful.”

“And we will take extra precautions now like washing our hands more frequently,” he added.
