Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha

New Delhi, May 29: Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM) has requested the Narendra Modi government to replace the picture of Mahatma Gandhi from the Indian currency notes with the picture of social reformer Veer Savarkar.

Apar from this, ABHM chief Swami Chakrapani has even sought Bharat Ratna for Savarkar, news agency ANI reported.

The ABHM said that Savarkar played a prominent role in India’s freedom movement and hence should be paid respect by featuring him on the currency.

Savarkar coined the term “Hindutva” and wrote his famous ideological treatise, “Hindutva: Who is a Hindu?” in 1923.
