Six members of a family were reported missing after a car skidded off the road and fell into the swollen Beas river on the Mandi-Manali national highway, police informed on Monday.
“Search operation is on to locate the six missing people but their chances of survival are less as the river is in spate. One body has been recovered,“ a police official said.
According to an official, eight people, including four women, were travelling in a Tata Nano car when the accident held near Aut, some 175 km from the state capital on Sunday night.
They were coming back to Pandoh in Mandi district from Manikaran, famous for Sikh shrine in Kullu district.
The only survivor was rushed to a nearby hospital in Mandi town.
