Himachal Elections: CM Virbhadra Singh files nomination

Himachal Pradesh, Oct 20: Chief Minister and Congress leader Virbhadra Singh filed his nomination for the upcoming elections in the state on Friday.

The Congress leader was accompanied by Vidya Stokes and other party leaders when he files his nomination papers. He is also planning to hold a road show and start his campaign from there.

Later in a day Singh is set to address a public meet in Arki.

Virbhadra Singh is contesting from Arki in Solan district and Dhumal from Sujanpur in Hamirpur district. The former desired to contest from the new seat. Both Arki and Sujanpur seats were won by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2012 assembly elections.

On October 12, the Election Commision had  announced poll dates for the assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh but held off announcing the Gujarat schedule.

Himachal Pradesh will go to polls on November 9, while counting of votes will take place on December 9.
