Help bring ‘India together’ : Rahul Gandhi urges NRIs

Fubai, Jan 11 :Addressing Indian diaspora in Dubai, Congress President in his maiden visit to the UAE urged NRIs to help bring “India together and tackle issues of agrarian distress,unemployment” caused by GST and demonetisation brought by Narendra Modi government.

“”Without the help of the NRIs, it would be impossible for India to be where it is today. In the last century, when we stood up and fought the British, the fight was led by an NRI called Mahatma Gandhi,I want to tell you that till the day I die, my doors, my ears and my heart will always be open for you,” Gandhi said.

“Single biggest problem that we face in India today is unemployment. We need to take this head-on. We need to show the rest of the world that not only we can beat unemployment but we can also challenge China,” Rahul Gandhi said to thousands of Indians who flocked to Dubai International Cricket Stadium to listen to the views and vision of Congress President.

Every single Indian, irrespective of where they live, is responsible to bring India together once again. We have to say enough,Congress President said.

Gandhi said that while humility and tolerance for different ideas, religions and communities are the values that bring together the people of the two countries, India has faced “four-and-a-half years of intolerance”.

Addressing the Indian diaspora in Dubai, Rahul Gandhi said NRIs are India’s biggest strength. “Without the help of NRIs India would not have reached where it is today,” he said.

Speaking to Indians in Dubai, Congress President Rahul Gandhi said that Congress will do everything possible to help the Indian diaspora in Dubai. “We will talk to you and address your issues in our election manifesto. I am here to listen to your Mann Ki Baat,” Rahul Gandhi said.


Gandhi said the Congress will give Andhra Pradesh the special category status if the party is voted to power in the Lok Sabha elections this year.

He said, “When I drive through UAE, I see your energy, blood and sweat. You have helped build this nation, and I feel proud that you have played your part with dignity, togetherness and tolerance.”

“When I met Your Highness Vice President & Prime Minister of UAE, I experienced humility. Great nations are built with that kind of humility,” he said.

Gandhi is in the United Arab Emirates for a two-day visit, was received by the country’s Prime Minister and the ruler of Dubai Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
