Heavy rains trigger landslide in China, 32 missing


Beijing, Sep 29: At least 32 people were reported missing in China’s Zhejiang province after incessant rains triggered landslides which engulfed parts of a village, authorities informed on Thursday.

A landslide occurred on Wednesday evening in Sucun village where 26 residents were missing after a heavy downpour brought by typhoon Megi, Xinhua news agency reported.

Also affected by the typhoon, six people in Baofeng village were reported missing on Wednesday night as their homes were destroyed by another landslide.

Rescuers have managed to save 15 people , but continued their search for survivors, the authorities said.
