Heavy rainfall lashes Mumbai, BMC cancels officers’ weekly offs

Mumbai, June 7: Heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Mumbai on Thursday affecting flight operations and traffic movements.

Meanwhile, Bombay Municipal Corporation cancelled Saturday and Sunday offs of its officers after heavy rain warnings issued by India Meteorological Department.

Waterlogged streets have also caused for hampered traffic mobility in the city.

Furthermore, due to bad weather conditions 9W-117 Jet airways, London-Mumbai flight has been diverted to Ahmedabad airport It will make a landing around 1 pm.

Earlier, water-logging has been reported in several areas including Malabar Hill and Hindmata, Dharavi, Byculla, Dadar TT, Kabutarkhana at Dadar, King Circle, Nagpada, Santacruz (East) and Marol Maroshi.

As per the media reports, services of local trains have also been affected on the Central line running 15 to 20 minutes late and 20 to 25 minutes on Western line.

At least nine flights of different airlines were also diverted to other airports because of congestion at Mumbai and inclement weather conditions.
