Heavy rain in Uttrakhand lashes out the hilly regions on Friday

According to officials, cloud burst in Pithoragarh inundated the entire region, causing problems to the people.

Large tracts of agriculture fields were destroyed in Suva village of the Dharchula area and three bridges linking the village have been washed away.

Thirty persons died and 25 others were missing in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh. Four persons lost their lives in Chamoli as rain continues to wreak havoc.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat, who expressed grief over the incident, on Friday, announced compensation of Rs. 2 lakh each to families of the victims

The Thal-Munsyari road has been cut-off and dozens of vehicles remained stranded on both sides.

The Yamunotri highway, near Kharadi, has also been damaged leading to traffic being halted.
