The rise in stalking cases was in sync with an overall rise in crimes against women in Delhi. There were 17,104 such cases in 2015, up from 15,265 in the previous year. These included 5,367 cases of molestation (4,179 in 2014, 3,345 in 2013) and 2,199 rape cases, again up from 2,096 in the previous year.

As per NCRB, most victims of sexual assault were found between the ages of 18 to 30. In 90% of the cases, the accused were known to the victims.
