New Delhi, Oct 25: The Bharatiya Janata Party has started hectic negotiations with the independents and Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) in Haryana after the people of the state has given a fractured mandate in the assembly election results. Manohar Lal Khattar has reached Delhi and is holding a meet with BJP Working President JP Nadda and BJP Haryana In-charge Anil Jain to form the government. Gopal Kanda of Haryana Lokhit Party is already in talks with the BJP and at least five independent candidates to reach the required figure of 46 seats in the 90-seat assembly.
The BJP won 40, Congress 31, JJP 10 and Others 9 seats in the just concluded Haryana assembly elections.
Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) leader Dushyant Chautala, who has emerged as ‘kingmaker’ in Haryana,is holding a meet with his 10 legislators on Friday to decide which party to support in order to form the next government in the state.As per the sourcesm he has demanded chief minister’s post.
The BJP is hoping to get support from Independent MLAs to get to the majority mark of 46 in the 90-member Haryana Assembly. BJP MP Sunita Duggal after meeting BJP Working President J P Nadda, along with Gopal Kanda, said, ” I informed our senior leaders about the independent candidates & leaders from other parties, who are willing to extend their unconditional support to us, they are in contact with them”.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has hailed BJP workers in Maharashtra and Haryana for their hard work. Addressing party workers via video conferencing, PM Modi described BJP emerging as the single largest party in Maharashtra and Haryana as unprecedented. “These are unprecedented victories because normally these days few governments return after five years. In such times to be elected again is a big deal,” PM Modi said.
