Rohtak, Dec 24: At least eight persons were killed in 50 vehicle pileup on Rohtak-Rewari highway due to dense fog conditions on Monday.
According to the reports, over ten people were injured in the accident.
Haryana Minister OP Dhankar told media, “Compensation of Rs. 2 lakhs will be given to the kin of the deceased, Rs. 1 lakh to those severely injured and Rs.50,000 to those with minor injuries”.
The vehicles collided each other after roads were covered by a thick layer of fog as the mercury dips in north India, resulting in low visibility.
The minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 4.6 degrees Celsius in the early hours of the day.
As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature slightly increased to 4.6 degrees Celsius from Sunday’s 3.7 degrees Celsius (the coldest so far in December in the past four years) because of easterly winds.
