Harsh Vardhan gets additional charge of Environment Ministry

New Delhi, May 18, 2017: After the sudden demise of Anil Madhav Dave, Science and Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan on Thursday has given additional charge of Environment Ministry.

A press release issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan said that “President Pranab Mukherjee, as advised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has directed that Harsh Vardhan, Cabinet Minister shall be assigned the charge of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, in addition to his exiting portfolios.”

A senior minister in the Narendra Modi cabinet, Vardhan holds charge of the ministries of earth sciences and science and technology. For a brief period in 2014, he was the Health Minister in the Modi cabinet.

Earlier today, Dave, the incumbent minister of Environment, passed away after he was brought to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi after he complained of uneasiness. He was 60 years old.
