Harish Rawat points out harassment at behest of Centre

Haldwani, February 11: As political mercury is rising amid ongoing elections in 5 states, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat has written to election commission of India that he has been harassed at the behest of the Centre in the name of investigation.

Yesterday an uncalled investigation was carried out at his helicopter for carrying out unaccounted cash during campaigning in Haldwani.

In a complaint to the Chief Election Commissioner, Rawat had said why only his helicopter is being checked when the ruling party’s leaders were bringing money in their choppers from New Delhi to distribute among party candidates.

He pointed out that “special treatment” is being meted out to BJP leaders by the commission and he was harassed as he belongs to influential political adversaries based in Delhi. He has also said that the poll panel should subject everyone to equal treatment howsoever important they may be.

He also accused BJP for having pumped in Rs 2,000 crore into the elections so far.
