Hapur lynching case: SC asks UP Police to submit report, ensure protection to witnesses

Aug 13, Meerut: The Supreme Court on Monday asked Meerut Inspector General of police to submit a report with respect to the entire Hapur lynching incident.

Besides this, the court directed the IGP to ensure protection to the witnesses in the case.

The bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra also issued a notice to the Uttar Pradesh government on the plea filed by Samiuddin.

The apex court fixed August 28 for the next hearing in the case.

On June 18, 45-year-old Qasim along with his 65-year-old companion Samuddin was brutally beaten by a group of men beaten in Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh.

Qasim lost his life, while  Samuddin suffered injuries in the incident.
