New Delhi, Aug 4: Legendary singer Kishore Kumar was the one voice that gave musical meaning to every human emotion. Friday marks 88th birth anniversary of the singer-actor.

The multi-talented Kishore Kumar has entertained us through the decades. He was a playback singer, actor, lyricist, composer, producer, director, and screenwriter. Through his antics as an actor, through his melodious voice as a singer and also through his melodies as a composer, Kishore never fails to impress.

He was married to some of the most prominent and gorgeous Bollywood actresses – Madhubala, Yogeeta Bali and Leena Chandavarkar. Kishore Kumar was the younger brother of legendary Bollywood actor Ashok Kumar and actor Anoop Kumar was his younger brother.
He had recorded his last song just a day before he died on October 13, 1987 at the age of 58.

One of the most versatile singers, Kishore Kumar has immortalised numerous film songs. Some of his successful flicks included- New Delhi (1957), Aasha (1957), Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958), Half Ticket (1962), and Padosan (1968). He had recorded his last song just a day before he died on October 13, 1987 at the age of 58.Kishore Kumar won 8 Filmfare Awards for Best Male Playback Singer apart from 27 filmfare awards.

He was also given “Lata Mangeshkar Award” by the Madhya Pradesh government.

Moreover, the Madhya Pradesh Government initiated a new award called the “Kishore Kumar Award” for exceptional contributions to Hindi cinema. He had recorded his last song just a day before he died on October 13, 1987 at the age of 58.
