Gurmeet Ram Rahim convicted in Journalist murder case

Sirsa, Jan 11: A special CBI court in Panchkula on Friday convicted Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in the journalist murder case.

Three others, who were close aides of the sect chief were also convicted in the killing of journalist Ramchandra Chhatrapati.

CBI judge Jagdeep Singh dilivered the verdict.

The quantum of sentence will be pronounced on January 17.

Presently, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is serving a 20-year jail term in Rohtak’s Sunaria jail for raping two of his women disciples.

Chhatrapati was shot at in October 2002 after his newspaper, ‘Poora Sach’, published an anonymous letter regarding how women followers were being sexually exploited by the 51-year-old sect head at the Dera headquarters in Sirsa.
