Kashmir’s Pulwama encounter: 2 Militants, 1 civilian killed


Srinagar, March 9: A civilian and two militants were killed in an encounter between militants and security forces in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday, police said.

The civilian, identified as Aamir Wani, was killed with a bullet to his neck, the police said.

However, it was not immediately clear whether the civilian was killed during protests or had he been hit by a stray bullet during the gunfight.

One Terrorist killed in Pulwama encounter has been identified as LeT’s Jahangir Ahamd Ganaie while the another has been identified as  LeT’s Mohd Shafi Shergujari, said

As soon as the security forces cordoned off Padgampora village following a tip-off about the presence of the militants, they were fired at, triggering the fighting.

The CRPF  began the operation on Pulwama’s Padgampora after reports said four-five militants were hiding,” the police added.

Meanwhile, in the view of the operation, train services from Banihal to Srinagar also temporarily suspended.
